Welcome to the home of the real pingpongpandas
We are a small group of table tennis fans from Cologne who regularly play outside.
Why ping pong pandas? It's obvious: the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is not only a symbol of biodiversity and nature conservation, but also a symbol of skill and grace - qualities that are also important in table tennis. With their agile mobility and precise play, they are reminiscent of the nimble movements of a ping-pong player.
Interestingly, the term "panda" is even thought to derive from the Chinese word for "bamboo eater", underlining the affinity of these fascinating animals to the natural materials from which table tennis bats are made.
So: we are the pingpong pandas!
About Us
We started in 2019 at Karl-Schwering-Platz in Cologne-Lindenthal. During the pandemic, we then moved into our own protected and secret territory.
We meet here every Wednesday at the table, play ping pong, drink a beer and have a good time.
We are 8 guys who like to play pingpong and have a sociable time.
What could be better than table tennis, pandas and beer? Nothing!
OUTDOOR PINGPONG
Ping pong, also known as table tennis, has a fascinating history and is enjoyed all over the world. Originally known as "whiff-whaff" in England, the sport developed in the late 19th century.
